Regina Landry can't stand her father. And that was before he became the highlight of the 11 O'Clock news regarding the death of Mindy O'Dell (or really even the accused of Hearst's Dean O'Dell's death). Actually her hate for her own father goes way back.
Her biological mother, Jennifer Young, was a student of Hank Landry. Considerably, that in itself is enough said. Regina was a product of an affair of a professor and his student. Her mother lovingly dumped her on her father's desk after she was born and told Hank that he would have to deal with the consequences of their affair. Jennifer has never looked back. Hank's wife, Melissa, forgave the affair and welcomed Baby Regina with open arms.
Melissa implored Hank to tell Regina the truth about her origins, but Hank avoided. Finally, when Mel and Hank split up - when Regina was fifteen and, her sister, Sam sixteen - the truth came to the surface and Regina never forgave her father for all the lies.
It was a rapid and violent change from considering herself Daddy's Little Girl (despite his absence) - the one that would get straight As, worked as president of student council and was a cheerleader - to snapping in a bitter, resentful teenager who acted out at every possible opportunity. Her quick wit made it exceptionally hard for Hank to deal and Regina learned quickly that she could get anything she wanted from her father and nothing she needed.
After the divorce Regina moved to Miami with Mel and her sister decided to stay with their father. Regina insisted to Samantha the whole time that their father would only disappoint her and, truth be told, she was right.
As a final "fuck you" to her father, she's been traveling the world on his dime.
She has learned from the best that love should be without complication. Just ask her last husband.
